    We are seeking a Paralegal to join our fast paced global legal and compliance team. This position will assist in the transactional work in all areas of the legal function including, corporate, regulatory, compliance, intellectual property and litigation with a heavy emphasis on contract review. 

     

    The employee will join a small and efficient legal group helping all segments of the Topcon organization world-wide.     Responsibilities

    • Provide support to attorneys practicing in all areas of corporate, regulatory, compliance, intellectual property, litigation and transactional work
    • Assist attorneys in contract negotiations, review and modification of all types of contracts (business associate agreements, supply, distribution, NDA, software, consultant, services, OEM, etc.)
    • Ensure contract terms are consistent with Topcon policies, legal and regulatory advice
    • Maintain contract database (scanning, uploading, tracking/calendaring and storing executed contracts)
    • Review advertising and promotional materials
    • Maintain document and project based tracking and filing system 
    • Organize and monitor ongoing legal departments activities and programs (compliance training and audits of business units regarding governance, data privacy, export control and various other corporate compliance areas)
    • Perform administrative duties required to complete tasks and responsibilities
    • Interact with business personnel and outside counsel as needed in completion of assignment

     

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years experience at a mid to large size in-house legal department or contract management work experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred; Associates Degree will be considered depending on experience
    • Paralegal Certificate
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Experience drafting, reviewing, modifying and negotiating a wide variety of agreement types, is preferred
    • Proven organizational, written and project management skills, attention to detail
    • Solid word processing and web based systems proficiency
    • Strong solution oriented self-starter with good communication skill
    • Knowledge of medical device regulation is a plus, but not required
