    • The Lead Product Engineer plans, organizes and directs the Product Engineers and technicians to meet company objectives for new product development and improvements of existing product lines.  The Product Engineering team is responsible for understanding the market requirements and developing a complete solution to meet the requirements.  The Product Engineering team works closely with other engineering teams, Project Managers and Product Management to fulfill the project requirements. 

     

    Responsibilities


     

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals such as timelines, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
    Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
    Selects, develops, trains and supervises staff.
    Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones.
    Approves and submits proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds or allocates funds from the department budget.
    • ·         Takes ownership of a project from the time it is approved to the time it is completed.
    • ·         Works with Product Management and the Product Development Groups to create detailed specifications and testing plans.
    • ·         Works with industry leading OEMs to perform product demonstrations and implement the product into their portfolio.
    • ·         Reports project progress to upper management and other groups within the company.

    Qualifications


     

    Required Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:

    • ·         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and show a high level of ownership.
    • ·         Strong technical aptitude as well as problem solving/analysis skills.
    • ·         Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, and outstanding communication skills.
    • ·         Positive attitude and ability to get along with others in a cooperative team environment.
    • ·         Ability to travel internationally.
    • ·         Must be ambitious and can be a team leader.
    •  
    • Education and Experience:
    • ·         Seven or more years working in a product design environment.
    • ·         Completion of a BSc or MSc in a related engineering degree such as electrical engineering.
    • ·         Member of a Professional Engineering society is preferred, but not required.
    • ·         Excellent communication skills
    • ·         Experience with Precision Agriculture, CANbus and mobile electronics is an asset.
