    To further support the RDS weighing brand, Topcon is seeking a Product Engineer with a good understanding of embedded on-vehicle (e.g. quarrying, mining, construction, recycling) systems to participate in product development at the Topcon Technologies. The role is predominately to specify, design and develop industrial weighing products. Working closely with the product development team and product management, in order to fully define the product requirements, provide engineering level testing and eliminate product related issues.

     

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    • Full lifecycle development of current and new embedded weighing systems
    • Generate and maintain product requirements as well as testing documentation
    • Produce technical specifications that can be easily implemented by software engineers
    • Ensure timely communication with internal/external customers
    • Support research and development of new concepts related to the application of embedded electronics in on-vehicle markets
    • Perform on-site testing of new systems and developing technology
    • Hold a full UK driving license

    Qualifications

    Required Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:

    • Suitable qualification in an engineering discipline with solid work experience
    • Good understanding of hydraulic systems
    • Able to identify, estimate, plan, and execute developments
    • Hands on experience of modern quarrying/construction/mining/recycling equipment
    • Experience with communications (CAN, mobile, RS232)
    • Experience with Type Approved Weighing Systems (Legal for Trade) is an asset
    • Having proficiency certificates for loading shovels, telehandlers, forklifts, excavators and agricultural tractors is an asset

     

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment with regular site visits at locations such as quarries.  

     

    Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may also be required as the job duties demand. Some local and international travel may be required.
