  • Overview

    Topcon Agriculture, a division of the Topcon Positioning Group, provides advanced IoT connected field and farm management solutions for aftermarket and OEM customers in the agriculture industry, integrating high-precision hardware, software, and data to bring efficiency and enhance productivity to every phase of the farming operations.


    Provides leadership to the Engineering Department consisting of Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineers as well as Project Managers and Technicians.  Responsibilities include planning, analyzing and evaluating all phases of engineering development, programs, plans and procedures.  Reviews and approves recommendations for designs, methods and policies.  Coordinates the development, design and improvement of corporate products.  Provides Engineering consultation as needed.  Works with executive team to meet organizational objectives for engineering activities.  Develops strategic direction for technology development.   Also reviews and approves capital expenditures and staffing and talent management decisions and recommendations.


    • Provides strategic direction to development of engineering capabilities and competencies.
    • Develops technology roadmap to match strategic marketing direction of company.
    • Coordinates implementation of New Product Development Process with Product Management.
    • Coordinates product development efforts and allocates resources according to corporate priorities.
    • Conducts design reviews to ensure architecture, functionality and product performance are maximized.
    • Manages department to schedule, technical requirements and budget constraints.
    • Ensures engineering procedures and practices are optimized to meet objectives.
    • Ensures timely and thorough communication of key activities within department and other functional areas of the company.
    • Mentoring and training direct reports within the team providing them with opportunities to advance their career.
    • Ensures research efforts keep company abreast of new technologies and industry trends.
    • Meet with customers in existing and new markets to better understand the market requirements.
    • Identifying and presenting possible product ideas with marketing.



    Education & Experience

    • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent.
    • Advanced degree preferred in Engineering or Business.
    • 10 or more years of experience in product design, product support and marketing. at least 5 years in a Manager level role
    • Knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing processes.
    • Understanding of project management principles.
    • Critical skills for this position include analytical and conceptual skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to function as part of a team, excellent organizational skills.

    • Knowledge of agricultural applications highly desirable
    • Experience working with OEM customers in the agricultural equipment industry

    • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
